Annie Gillis, MA, LMFTA

Couples and Family Therapist, Coach, Clinical Case Manager

Background

I have worked in the mental health field since 2018 and provide therapy, coaching, and case management to offer coordinated, comprehensive care. I work with clients in-person in Seattle and virtually throughout Washington State.

Therapeutic Approach

My approach is systemic and relational, meaning we look beyond the immediate problem to understand the patterns, roles, and communication cycles that keep people stuck.  I work with individuals, couples, and families.

Individuals: My work with individuals focuses on understanding the relational patterns that shape their experiences and helping them build more secure, intentional ways of connecting with others. This work is especially helpful for those navigating relationship uncertainty, exploring compatibility, processing family dynamics, or working through the tension between acceptance and change. The goal is not just insight, but meaningful shifts in how you experience and engage in your relationships.

Couples: A core area of my work is with couples who feel stuck in repetitive patterns - often able to recognize the cycle they’re in, but unsure how to shift it. I help partners move out of these loops and toward more security and better communication.

Families: I specialize in working with parents of young adults who are struggling with substance use, mental health challenges, the transition into adulthood, or some combination of these. With extensive experience working directly with young adults, I help parents better understand what may be driving their child’s behavior while strengthening boundaries, accountability, and family dynamics that support long-term independence.

Coaching

In addition to therapy, I offer clinical coaching for individuals who want to function more effectively, communicate more clearly, and build a life that feels more manageable.

I specialize in supporting individuals navigating challenges in school or work, particularly those related to executive functioning. I also offer relationship coaching for individuals who want to:

  • Communicate more clearly and confidently

  • Build and maintain friendships

  • Navigate dating with greater self-awareness and less anxiety

  • Strengthen personal and professional relationships

This work is practical, collaborative, and grounded in accountability. I am a certified PEERS® instructor (a 16-week, evidence-based social skills program), which I often integrate into my coaching work.

Beyond redpoint

Outside of work you’ll find me geeking out on all things wellness, chasing the sun, and spending time with loved ones... (especially my bernedoodle, Theo).

Areas of Focus

I integrate Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) to balance practical, skill-based strategies with meaningful emotional work. Clients often describe me as warm, engaged, and direct.

CRAFT Informed Family Therapy

I am trained in Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT), an evidence-based model designed for families supporting a loved one with substance use or co-occurring mental health concerns. CRAFT is one of the most well-supported approaches for helping families create change- and for increasing the likelihood that resistant loved ones engage in treatment. CRAFT-informed therapy focuses on:

  • Improving communication and reducing conflict

  • Using influence rather than control

  • Strategically reinforcing healthy behavior

  • Increasing treatment engagement
