James Winston, LMFTA
Individual and Family Therapist, Coach, Clinical Case Manager
Background
After several years in the tech industry, I made a meaningful transition into the field of mental health—a space I feel deeply passionate about. I completed my clinical training in Child and Family Services at Sound Health while also serving as an adjunct counselor in the Seattle Public School System. Following that, I spent over two years as a therapist at a boutique psychotherapy practice in Seattle, where I primarily supported adolescents and young adults. I’m excited to bring this experience and perspective to redpoint.
Therapeutic Approach
In therapy, I take a solution-focused and collaborative approach, guiding clients toward meaningful change through a blend of strategic planning, empathy, and encouragement. I work alongside clients to uncover their strengths, build resilience, and identify practical, achievable steps forward. Whether you're navigating stress, life transitions, anxiety, or relationship challenges, my goal is to support you in moving beyond what’s holding you back and toward a more empowered and fulfilling life.
Coaching
As a coach, I support students and early-career professionals who may be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about their next steps. My approach is personalized and results-oriented, designed to help you build confidence, clarify your goals, and take meaningful, actionable steps forward. I meet you exactly where you are, bringing a balance of humor, compassion, and structure to our work together. Whether you're navigating academic pressures, career transitions, or personal growth, I’m here to help you move forward with clarity and purpose.
Beyond redpoint
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, playing drums and guitar, shooting hoops, and skiing when I get the chance.
Areas of Focus
I have a particular passion for working with adolescents and young adults, supporting them as they uncover their strengths, build resilience, and take practical steps toward their goals. Whether it's pursuing education, exploring vocational paths, or navigating the complexities of relationships and identity, I strive to create a supportive space where growth and self-discovery can thrive.
